Rob Buchanan – the man behind the company
Born in New Zealand, Rob initially trained as an electrical apprentice with the NZ Electricity Board in 1980 and spent the following 10 years gaining experience in NZ, South Africa and the USA before moving permanently to Australia.
By 1990, Rob had been promoted to project manager positions, overseeing the electrical installation of heavy pumping and screening equipment, power and cabling, plus the hiring and coordination of 30+ tradesmen. He worked on multi-million dollar contracts at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre ($8m), Port of Brisbane, BP Refinery Instrument Installation, Brisbane City Centre ($2.5m) and Baller & Gas Centre Stage 2 ($5m).
In 2002 Rob set up Rob Buchanan Electrical and has since gained a reputation for providing high quality electrical solutions for residential, industrial and commercial premises across Brisbane’s Western Suburbs, CBD, South East Queensland and overseas (Jamaica and Tonga) for large scale projects. Rob has put together a team of friendly, trusted and long-term employees who are encouraged to participate in ongoing skill development and training to ensure their knowledge and compliancy is up to date. He is extremely proud that RBE is known for its reliability, prompt service, attention to detail and competitive rates.
Rob is married to Helen and they have a son Jack, and Pinot, an Italian Shepherd dog. Rob’s interests are cycling, skiing, hiking and motorcycling.
