About Us
Background
With over 32 years experience in the electrical contractor trade (including 10 years in NZ, South Africa and the USA), Rob Buchanan set up Rob Buchanan Electrical in 2002.
Having established an excellent reputation for providing high quality electrical solutions, Rob Buchanan Electrical now services industrial, commercial and residential locations across Brisbane’s Western Suburbs, CBD, South East Queensland and overseas for large scale projects.
We currently employ 6 electricians and 4 apprentices and we are proud to have trained 20 apprentices so far. We use a fully computerised appointment booking and field messaging system to accurately arrange and track our services. This allows us to be prompt, reliable and “on the job” when we say we will be.
We use a quality assurance system which lets us constantly evaluate and improve our customer service. Most of our custom is repeat business.
Our Team consists of friendly, trusted and long-term employees. They are encouraged to participate in ongoing skill development and training to ensure their knowledge and compliancy is up to date. Our uniformed staff will attend your site in a vehicle displaying the Rob Buchanan Electrical name.

Licensing
At Rob Buchanan Electrical, safety is our game and we strive to always be on top of legislation, licensing and compliance changes.
The Electrical Safety Act 2002 states that an electrical contractor license is required for businesses carrying out electrical work for others. Only an electrical contractor can do electrical safety work in your home – unlicensed work is unlawful and can be dangerous.
As a licensed electrician, our team consists of experienced electrical contractors who complete stringent annual electrical safety and quality audits, adhere to a code of ethics, and offer customers a 12-month guarantee on their work.
License Details

Training
Rob Buchanan Electrical is a firm believer in keeping up to date with changes in electrical legislation, compliance and trends. Our staff regularly updates their skills and we encourage ongoing training.
Rob Buchanan Electrical is also a registered supervisor for apprentices.
An apprenticeship with Rob Buchanan Electrical is a legally-binding training arrangement that combines structured training with paid employment. Usually taking four years to complete, you will become a qualified electrical worker by training in both the workplace and with a training provider. At Rob Buchanan Electrical you will learn the trade from a licensed electrician who will be experienced and designated as your superior. You will be supervised at all times whilst on-the-job and study at an approved registered training organization such as TAFE.

- Ensure any complaint is dealt with courtesy and appropriately.
- Each workplace is to be left as it is found, in a clean, tidy, and safe condition.
- Be fully identifiable as Rob Buchanan Electrical through having uniformed staff and the Rob Buchanan Electrical logo on vehicles, stationery and advertising.
